Gary A. Varnavides is a seasoned litigator and fierce advocate for his clients. He has extensive experience representing and advising a diverse array of clients in a wide range of commercial litigation matters and governmental and regulatory investigations.

Before joining The Maloney Firm, Gary worked at a prominent New York law firm for a decade before opening a Los Angeles office for that firm in 2020. At that firm, he represented a broad range of clients through all facets of litigation in state and federal court and arbitration proceedings around the United States, with a primary focus on the securities industry. He developed extensive experience investigating and litigating complex business disputes and fraud claims. He also counseled a wide range of sophisticated corporate clients and individuals, including prominent executives and a former governor, in a myriad of SEC, FINRA, CFTC, and DOJ investigations. For his work, Gary was recognized by Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers magazine as a “New York Metro Rising Star” for the years 2015-2019.

Gary is also an accomplished entrepreneur who has a keen understanding of his clients’ business interests. During the pandemic, he founded and launched a successful healthcare company that, among other things, provided COVID testing services to the entertainment industry. Shortly after forming the business, Gary quickly secured and negotiated multiple contracts with large streaming services and production companies and rapidly scaled the company to be one of the “go-to” healthcare companies in the Los Angeles-area during the depths of the pandemic.

Gary is licensed in New York and California. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Federal Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Gary received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law. While at Fordham, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Fordham Journal of Corporate & Financial Law. He also authored The Flawed State of Broker-Dealer Regulation, which won the IMCA Richard J. Davis Legal/Regulatory/Ethics Award. Gary obtained his BA from Boston College.
